Kelly Sweeney has been working in the behavioral health field for over 15 years.
From these years of experience Ms. Sweeney has gained an extensive and thorough knowledge of the complexities and inner workings of addiction and mental illness.
She has experienced how addiction and mental illness affect not only the individual in need, but also how it impacts one’s entire family system and/or primary support group.
Kelly spent a significant amount of time working in admissions departments for some of the most world-renowned residential treatment centers for addictive and mental health disorders.
This has afforded Ms. Sweeney the unique skill set of assisting the individual in need and/or his or her family come to the decision to seek help. As a result, Ms. Sweeney has become quite passionate about this aspect of the treatment process and has developed a knack for facilitating interventions. She believes that you do not need to wait until a loved one is ready for treatment. Too often she has seen those loved one’s moment of readiness be the end of their lives.
Ms. Sweeney has seen many successes through her years in the field as well as many tragedies. This has given her a clear idea of what works and what does not work. It is her primary goal to guide you and your loved one in the direction of success and healing.
In addition to intervention work, Ms. Sweeney also found a great need for case management for clients from the time they enter treatment and following them through aftercare. This is an area of care that frequently lacks attention. If this support is neglected, it can in turn, unfortunately, result in a client’s relapse or fall back into their old ways. Ms. Sweeney has a tremendous amount of experience working with clients and their loved ones while in treatment and after. Her belief is that while in treatment you are safe with all the therapeutic support you may need. The hard work is making the transition into the real world after treatment.
With the proper monitoring and management, Kelly can provide guidance for the client and the family as to the next best steps to take for continued success.
Most importantly she feels no one should have to go through this process alone.
Ms. Sweeney has completed multiple intervention trainings throughout the years in a variety of models. She strongly believes that there are multiple variables to consider before deciding which intervention method to utilize. She feels that the intervention method selected will ultimately depend on the client, situation, level of acuity and clinical profile. Once that information is obtained a method of intervention is then chosen.
Kelly lives in Thousand Oaks, CA with her 11-year-old son. She has been through her own journey of recovery and therefore has a personal connection to the field. When Kelly offers hope to her clients and/or a family member she does so with the deepest sincerity. Successful recovery is possible and has been achieved as she is a living example, as are the many individuals before her whom have taken the proper steps.
With her knowledge and guidance, Kelly brings hope and a support to those in need.
